In the Custom Shop we can draw from Z-Core™ and Custom Shop Z-Series models to deliver a full range of output and tonality. We've put together a wide selection of models and sets, but if you don't see exactly what you're looking for contact us and we'll see what we can do for you.
Z-Core 5™
Our Z-Core 5 family of pickups utilize Tone Tuning Technology™ to mimic the frequency response of AlNiCo 5, the magnet alloy that is most closely associated with the classic Strat® tone. The 5 voicing is the most open and transparent, giving that signature, glassy Strat quack in the in between positions, a nice, open, “woody” response in the neck and that classic Strat snap in the bridge. 5 voiced pickups at various output levels are featured across our line and are our primary choice for a classically Stratty tone.

Z-Series 2™
Our Z-Series 2 pickups utilize Tone Tuning Technology™ to mimic the frequency response of AlNiCo 2, giving a rounder, fatter tone that is still quite Stratty. In fact, this voicing, even being significantly lower Q than our Z-Core 5 models – Q being the primary measure of “strattiness”, still measures strattier than just about every other “noiseless” Strat pickup on the market. We feature the “2” voicing in our higher output, modern “boutique voiced” sets.

Z-Series Fat 5™
Our Z-Series Fat 5 pickups utilize Tone Tuning Technology™ to provide a fatter, more saturated response that still retains much of the clarity of AlNiCo 5, kind of like “AlNICo 5 on steroids”. We like this voicing in the bridge of our higher output, modern “boutique voiced” sets.

Z-Series Buckers™
The Z-Series Buckers were designed to emulate the tone and response of the classic, vintage hum-buckers, best described as a “Tele on steroids”. At low gain they have that nice rich snap, but dig in and they start to bark and growl. The bridge model is based on our Legacy Juicy voicing, but dialed in to vintage specs. The neck model uses our Legacy Throaty voicing, a hybrid approach that pushes that HB response a little in the single coil direction to minimize muddiness while still retaining that fat neck tone.

Potted Z-Series™
These are our Legacy Series split-able pickups, just potted into their Z-Series covers. This allows us to offer the great tone and functionality of these pickups at a lower price.

The Convertible is designed to split. In Silent Split™ mode it has a response similar to the Fat 5™, but at a lower output level, comparable to a low wind conventional single coil. In series mode it has a powerful, but clear voice, kind of like AlNiCo 5 on a LOT of steroids. The Convertible is available in Neck and Bridge models and comes standard with 4 conductor wiring.
Buckers are available in two different voicings, designed specifically for Neck and Bridge, and could really be separated into two different series, although they both fall solidly into humbucker territory. The Buckers were originally designed to yield a great humbucker tone, then we developed our Silent Split™! In series mode, you get a great humbucker tone that’s tailored for position. In Silent Split mode the Buckers give a very usable, more single-coil like tone. And both modes are hum-cancelling!
