Warranty, Returns and Exchanges

The Zexcoil® Warranty

Please read the installation instructions before purchasing or initiating a return or exchange

All new Zexcoil pickups are guaranteed free from defect in materials and workmanship for a period of 2 years. Pickups will be replaced or repaired (we will determine which after inspection) providing they have not been abused, misused or altered. Removing the cover on Z-Core, Z-Series and/or Dual Core pickups (all of these pickups have the covers covers potted on) will void the warranty. Removing the cover on a Legacy pickup and exposing the coils will leave the pickup unprotected and prone to damage, particularly if installing and playing it uncovered. This will void the warranty.

Returns/Exchanges

The first rule of exchanges is: Honestly, we’d rather not deal with them. We’re a relatively small, “Mom & Pop” organization and returns are a headache for us. We provide a lot of information and guidance about our models, so if you’re not pretty sure you’re going to want to keep something: don’t buy it. Save us both some trouble.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Z-Core, Z-Series and Dual Core pickups are shipped with a protective film over the face of the cover. Once the protective film is removed, the pickups can no longer be returned as saleable (see below), so please try them out and make sure you want to keep them before you remove the film (it doesn't affect the tone). The Z-Covers have a very smooth and shiny finish, so even a couple of string strokes can result in scratches that will negate our ability to sell them as new. Additionally, removing the protective film and/or shortening and/or damaging the wires on Dual Core models will void the warranty and will not be returnable for refund or exchange. Loaded pickguards also have a protective film over the pickguard and like the covers will not be returnable for refund or exchange (the pickguard alone) once the protective film is removed.

Note that the issuance of a return authorization does not guarantee a refund. Any refund is contingent upon inspection of the pickup or pickups upon return. We encourage anyone considering a return to read through this policy carefully and evaluate for themselves if the pickup is returnable before initiating the RMA process.

Pickups in saleable condition may be returned or exchanged within 30 days of purchase. Upon receipt and inspection, the purchase price will be refunded, less a $10.00 rewire and refurbish fee per pickup, $25.00 for a set of three. (Important note: This does not apply to Dual Core models. Dual Core models cannot be rewired, so if you damage the wiring or the pickup during installation, they will NOT be considered in saleable condition and will not be refundable.) Legacy model slotted covers (or removeable Z covers) that are scratched (see important note above) or otherwise not resaleable will be deducted from reimbursement. Scratched, fixed cover Z-Series/Z-Core models may be returned or exchanged within 30 days of purchase for a $30 re-cover fee per pickup. (Important note: This does not apply to Dual Core models. Scratched Dual Core covers will render the pickup non-saleable and hence not refundable as they cannot be re-covered.) All of our pickups are made to order and with fixed cover (pickups potted in their covers) Z-Series/Z-Core models, orders placed will be built with covers selected at checkout and color changes will be subject to a $10 restock fee, $25.00 for a set of three. Finish/color changes for Dual Core models will be subject to a $25 restock fee per pickup as a replacement will need to be built. Pickguards cannot be returned once the protective film has been removed. Electronic components (capacitors, potentiometers, switches etc.) that have been soldered are not returnable and will not be reimbursed. Damaged or defaced items will not be refunded, at the discretion of Lawing Musical Products, LLC. Non-standard wired harnesses and any wired harness is not refundable. Custom orders are not exchangeable nor refundable. Left handed pickups and left handed wired harnesses are considered custom orders and are therefore not exchangeable nor refundable. Shipping costs to and from are the responsibility of the customer and will not be reimbursed. Returns and cancelations will be assessed the merchant transaction fee that we pay for each order as it is not returned to us.

Shipping

Tracking and insurance is advised as well as proper packaging. In order to protect the pickup(s) from shifting within the box, use adequate, cushioning materials such as bubble wrap or other effective substances. Please do not include signature confirmation.
