Tru-Gauge™ Pickups
Inspired by what we learned after fingerprinting a pickup from a 1963 Fender Champ lap steel, the Zexcoil Z-Series Tru-Gauge pickups are the most accurate to vintage specs of anything we make. While most of our designs opt for the largest (smallest gauge #) wire that will fit at each wind level, the Tru-Gauge series sticks with conventional wire gauges as much as possible. This results in a higher resistance pickup (for instance the ZVU5 is typically only about 4400 Ω, with a Tru-Gauge ZV55 at 5500 and a conventional Strat at maybe 5900 Ω) but one that is closer to conventional, vintage specs.
