The Zexcoil Dual Core™ platform is the newest addition to our arsenal of pickups. Dual Core pickups consist of two independent pickups, or “Cores”, side-by-side under a conventionally sized humbucker cover.

The Dr. developed the Double Twang for a Tom Petty tribute show. The Double Twang incorporates a single coil voicing in Core 1 using the Fat55 pole piece, and a PAF voicing bit at lower output in Core 2 making Core 2 more Gretsch than Gibson. The series combination of the two Cores is similar to a PAF output, but brighter.

Core 1 delivers about 1.9 H. Core 2 comes in at 2.2 H. Combined in series, the two Cores yield a little over 4 H, in the range of a low output PAF, but again, a little brighter due to the substantial single voice influence.

And don’t forget the 3 position on/off mini toggle switch to access our recommended switching. This may be selected in the drop down box when ordering the pickup(s).
